Before we give you guys a detailed overview of the phone we have a little “Sneak Peek” for you, so check out some of the pictures and our exclusive “First Look Video”.
As always please leave your comments and requests on what you want to see on the detailed overview of the phone. Enjoy.

Awesome! If this was CDMA, I would seriously consider holding out for this one. But alas no VZW love – for now at least. But I’d still be interested on this device’s memory, which is my biggest issue with my beloved Pearl.
This is so awesome! I was about to order 9700 but now I am going to wait for this baby to be released!
@ngel, there is a big difference between the Bold 9700 and this Pearl 9100. But I guess for some it boils down to size.
I was actually really surprised when I saw the pictures of the phone. This has to be one of the best looking Blackberries Ever.
If you care about “How pretty” your phone is, you can’t go wrong by choosing this one.
Beauty, Size and Features all in one phone. I can’t wait to get it as long as the price is also tempting. Do we know when it’s going to be released and is there any hint on the price?
AHHHHHHHH!!!!
From the first time i laid on this phone a couple months ago i know it would be love….and time sure has not made my love grow old!
*NB* I truly hate the 81xx Series
Everything just looks so perfect. The trackpad, the ‘Pearl’, the keys, it all looks like it fits so perfectly.
would be cool if it was equipped with an accelerometer so videos/browsing can be in landscape mode…
Hahaha! Comment 007 gets special treatment
Nice touch salo.
Took a while, but someone finally noticed about comment 007
Actually, Im sure people just weren’t talking about the gorilla in the room
Oh snap…true @codemaker. Dang. Sal, it is one of the nices BBs I’ve seen. I love the sleekness of the phone. If I could just get myself to give up the huge screen of the Storm2, this would be my next phone.
NO 3G! epic fail
Wait, wtf?
It says GPRS yet still gives the 3G bands…
Thanks soooooooooo much, Sal!! You are amazing!
the vid is gone lol
vid is back up
any chance of uploading the video to megaupload ? It would be nice.
Don’t worry I’ll upload tomorrow morning. Just dealing with work right now
Video is up again, and megaupload file will be up tomorrow morning
It doesn’t look much thinner than the 9700 at first glance…Sal, can you confirm the approx thickness?
I will as soon as I get a second
hey dude you speak/type in other languages other than english right? how does that work on the pearl if for example you wanna mix english and spanish or something using suretype?
its terrible i usually type in “spanglish” thats one of the reasons i gave up my 8100
I use Greek and English on my 8110 and I really love the smooth way that changes between languages! I hate greeklish cause they are not at all professional!
oh lol hmm sometimes i mix languages so i guess suretype is out for me. too bad. looks real sleek
another link for the vid, i hasnt go a chance to see it…
Any info on hardware specs? I assume 256 memory or more and 3.2 camera or greater. What about the screen resolution? 8900 screen turned sideways maybe?
Wow, I finally caught a vid while it was still up! Looks like an awesome BB.
Giving it away?
nice BB even i look..
keep post
is there gps on this?
thanks you using my youtude page for you video.

as to me, the qwerty keyboard is the really blackberry.
Isn’t it true that even though it says GPRS, WiFi, 3G, it can still easily be changed or created to work on a CDMA network like Sprint and/or Verizon by the time its actually released?
And I also want to know the processor speed, and what kind of GPS is on there, like a-GPS or regular GPS.
if the Pearl 9100 is an upgraded version of the 8130 then Im excited to find out just how upgraded it is.
And anyone that already has or had the smaller pearl knows that even though its a suretype keypad, the keys are actually twice as big as the keys on a full size blackberry. small device, huge keys, great for someone like me with big fingers.
Hurry, fast, bye.
just got 9700 and even though it is a full size keyboard i still prefer the large pearl keys. so as soon as the 9100 is out, i’m switching. (i’m the only in our company that refuses to use bigBB, i had pearls since they came out. last pearl flip is terrible however – not a true gem!)
also, now i got used to the sure type software to help me with spell check before i even finish typing the word. i love the pearl, its definitely a high end blackberry. especially on sprints simply everything plan, it really shows of the pearls true potential.
How long did it take for 9700 to hit the store shelves since it was first spotted? I’m trying to figure out the scenario for 9100. it looks like a final product.
Dates prices???
Any comments about this?
Anyone else see that it says 75 comments for this blog post but only see 39?? I’m confused and lost, lol.
Anyhoo, the 9100 is looking sweet!
I am very confused about that too!
LOL I am still figuring out a bunch of stuff
OMG!!! I just bought the Tour 9630 last night and this morning my husband shows me this!
I traded in my pearl 8130 for the tour because the pearl kept freezing (sandtimer just kept spinning randomly for what seems like forever). Sprint had replaced it countless times with the same result, think it was caused by the extremely low flash memory. Regardless, I am hoping Sprint will get this in 2011 when my upgrade come back again.
Think I may stick with the Tour b/c it “seems” like a substantial phone if I can get used to this full QWERTY bs! I really loved the “SureType” my pearl had, like Jscucci said, “i got used to the sure type software to help me with spell check before i even finished typing the word”. Now I have to type out the entire word with a full QWERTY keyboard.
RIM, let’s try to timeout the releases a little more strategically…like a new version every 2-3 years??? So we can purchase what we really want!
Regardless, will most likely buy this one when it arrives for Sprint…if it does
and if I can talk one of my family members into giving me their upgrade!
i am a huge bb pearl fan, but even when this phone comes out i think i’ll keep my 8130 for a minute, cuz as i see with other new phones lately, they always seem to pop out a 2nd or 3rd newer/better version of the phone in what seems like just month later. e.g. iphone, then iphone3g, then iphone3gs. storm, then storm2. bold, then bold 9700. i’d be pissed if i used my upgrade to get the 9100 and then a short time later they bring out a “9110 or 20″ better version of the pearl. but thats just me.
oh, and i also wanted to say that to me it looks like blackberry is slowly phasing out all of their phone with trackballs to new versions that have the new touch pad. if thats true, sorry Desiree.
mh, video down, too
Hey Sal,
Love the write up. Have you heard any news about this? I really would like to buy this as my pearl 8130 keeps freezing. I love everything about the pearl but the pesky freezing midway thing. It got me into huge trouble yesterday…was dealing with the repurcussions of a huge snowstorm and I couldn’t get in contact with my girlfriend because the pearl kept freezing. Pissed me off to no end. I want to replace the pearl, but I would hate to buy a tour or curve and have this come out two weeks down the road. Anybody heard how long it’ll take for this to be released for Sprint? Any help would be appreciated….
Happy Holidays
Any news on if it will become available with Sprint???
