Blackberry WebKit Browser Vs Android and iPhone!

Finally we got to see something extraordinary coming our way (Blackberry fans, users, and addicts). The new up-coming Blackberry Browser is a real improvement from what we have now a days and will make a lot of people stop looking around for other devices or even stop them from carrying 2 phones at the same time. We have some screenshots from the browsers on the new iPhone 4 and the HTC Sense (Android) when we put them to the test. Take a look at the the video here and the results from the other 2 phones and let the fight begin!

Here we have the video of the Browser on the new Blackberry 9800 (Slider) in action:

Now compare that to these screenshots from the iPhone4 (iOS4):

And the HTC Droid Incredible (Android 2.1):

If you want to test it out on your phone here are the links to the 3 tests we performed:

I’m very happy with Opera Mini 5.1 on my Storm1. As long as i have Opera, the Web kit Browser is just a bonus. What I’m really waiting for is the Storm3. Thanks for video though.

Your voice is smexy lol. Great vid, makes me more excited for the webkit. Thats interesting about what you said about 3G. Does he normally not get 3G or is it just this phone?

    • 004 18 Jul

Well thank you very much! ;) LOL No, he has problems getting 3G in general on AT&T…

  • 005 18 Jul

Kudos to RIM on this. What a huge improvement.

  • 006 19 Jul

Whoa, it has a better HTML5 score than Chrome, FF and Opera on the PC LOL. Have you tried youtube HTML5 beta on the slider?

  • 007 19 Jul

    And… what about Froyo?

    Try again.

As a former blackberry user now with an Evo, my only question is – “And when will OS6 be coming to market?”

Right now its vapor ware. I hope you guys do get it. The more market away from iPhone the better. But I mean, they have been hyping OS6 for how long? Get it launched already. Not leaving android, but feel bad for you guys.

I got 176 and 92/100 on my MyTouch running Froyo (2.2)

  • 010 19 Jul

Am I the only one who is noticing that this phone has what appears to be the same Death-Grip issue as the iPhone 4????? RIM will be in seriousssss trouble if thats the case!!! Otherwise the phone looks like a massive improvement from current BB offerings…

  • 011 19 Jul

lol @ terms of use violation video

  • 012 19 Jul

I wish they would have compared using one of the faster Android phones. The Nexus One runs *much* faster than the Incredible right now because the Nexus One is running 2.2. I *thought* everyone knew there was a huge speed jump from 2.1 to 2.2? Or they could have used one of the new Samsung phones that, even running 2.1, are super fast because of the hummingbird processor.

I tested my Storm1 with bolt and I got 100 points out of 300 for the html5test.com
    and the acid3 test I got 100\100

  • 014 19 Jul

Beats my Chrome on Mac on HTML5 test

  • 015 19 Jul

It’s not important anyway yet since even most desktop browsers score less.

  • 016 19 Jul

That’s great! Only a million people or more, including myself, have left this dying platform. I bet that this is all one big overhyped promise…once this browser is running on a real, fully loaded consumer phone, it’s going to suck just lik!e everything else from RIM. I’m so glad I switched to Android after almost two miserable years with the Storm. RIP RIM

  • 017 21 Jul

Listen people above, I would say it’s a dying platform Considering it’s going QNX, Plus you all jealous that the browser is faster than ya droids and Iphone’s…. Say what now

Why do people go on boards where fans of a product hang out just to bash those fans and the product? If you are not a fan, get a life and don’t come on the boards! I am not an Iphone fan, but I don’t go on Iphone boards just to bash them. How lame.

As a Blackberry user, I am anxious for this. It has taken a long time, but I’d rather it come out right, then buggy and become an embarrassment. RIM got away with the S1 because they were just dipping their feet into the pond. Now they are in the pond and have to produce.

I think os6 is just what we loyalists have been waiting for. As a Berry user, all i want is a better browser andmemory. This is essential for business purposes, not entertainment. My push mail is great. I love BBM. I just get envious when it comes to the browser. I don’t care about the multimedia as much. If i want 1000 music features, I will use my mp3 player. If i need 1000 picture options, i will get an actual camera. Those added features will just be icing on the business cake.
I will be pleased with my os 6 device if it keeps everything we love about the Berry and its reliable messaging and gets a great browser and better memory for the great business apps.

oh yeah. Thanks for the vids. I have watched the other ones on youtube from last month so much they have become stale! I needed some new footage!

Looking forward to whatever BB has coming out, paused on getting my first BB (Bold 9700) to hopefully get the 9780 with 6.0 before the fall. Coming from Android just trying to see what all the fuss is about and looking forward to BBM. I am still tempted to just get the 9700 if I find out for sure it will get the OS update.

You know, I was all about switching to the iPhone, since my Tour SUCKS hardcore (getting my third one in less than a year tomorrow), because I have an iPod Touch, with tons of apps I use all of the time, I can view emails MUCH better on my iPod, better YouTube integration… but this vid has made me take a step back. If the browser is this good, and if this phone has a normal touchscreen instead of that clicking crap… I may just have to give this phone a try… as long as it comes to Verizon!!! I love the customization of BlackBerry SO MUCH, plus it’s really intuitive… if OS6 lives up to this, and this phone’s on Verizon by April, I might just stick around to see what RIM has to offer.

Thanks for the vid! Is there a chance we latecomers to your site might be able to see your other vids, the ones already removed because of violations? :)

    yo

If that’s how it actually runs on a released consumer device…. congratulations BB faithful, you are now experience what you should have 3 years ago (or more given BB’s long standing market share lead).

now if blackberry could put os6 with the new browser on a phone with a 1ghz+ processor and a 4+ inch touch screen plus the amazing blackberry keyboard (oh how i miss the keyboard on my tour) i would leave my droidx in a heartbeat
