Well this is interesting… This version of our already loved and extremely reliable Blackberry 9700 was spotted in the wild by one of my buddies that was kind enough to send me a sweet picture of it. This one is known as the “Blackberry Bold 9780″, and by the picture you can see that is running on OS 6.0. This proves what we already know, but some don’t, which is the fact that NON TOUCHSCREEN Blackberry devices will get OS 6.0. Also, the slight difference from our regular 9700 would be the fact that the chrome bezel is darker (almost black). As far as the “guts” go we all know that it has 512mb of flash memory, but nothing else as off now. I’d say stay tuned as the story develops and maybe even some videos if we get lucky!

I think the major difference between the 9650 and 9780 is CDMA vs GSM. Other than that, the keyboard is probably a little different. Same as the 9700 keyboard.
I would love to see an all touch screen blackberry with a completely different design.

This isn’t a CDMA device is it?!@? They need no more device. Unless they trade us the Storm.
2 Things to answer your question…
1. At the top of the pic is says “insert Sim” most of the time that indicates a GSM device.
2. The bold 9650 was just released which is the CDMA device.

I agree, it might be a 9700 with a 6.0 skin. Unless we see the “About” page there ain’t no proof it’s not a bold 9700 with a 6.0 skin.

And can’t wait to run OS 6 on it.

that means all 9700 users are gonna migrate to 9780…cuz after reloading OS 6 to 9700, the memory will be like 9000 as today…

the BlackBerry Bold 9700 except with a darker bezel that BlackBerry Bold 9780 is looking might fine to me. For me, the Bold 9700 is the perfect device so transitioning to the 9780 is fine by me

I really hope this device comes out before october. I went to t-mobile, just to find out that with 4 months to go with my plan, I would have to pay $300 for a recentley outdated Bold 9700. I just wish that the 9780 was in reach for tmobile. Seems like it is since att is getting the torch.

@ cristobal…the storm isn’t getting OS 6..which sucks my phone is only a year old. Anyway they are coming out with whats being called the “oden refreshed” which will be a storm 2 with the os6 update. Which means we have to buy a new phone..RIM really dropped the ball on this. Even iphone allowed os4 on the 3g and 3gs. I am really thinking about jumping ship..they arent taking care of loyal BB customers..knowing that the droid and iphone have been better but out of hope holding on only to be burned.
salomondrin please give us some clue or something for believe on o.s 6.0 on storm 2

They filed a slideshow on it. I’ve heard rumors that att will get it in the first week of september…highly unlikely since they got the torch. Most likely tmobile will have it first, in the middle of october as i stated before.
